Public information map for the Twelvemile Lake and Sand Lake fires, July 9, 2025.
The Twelvemile Lake Fire (#220) sits at 23,423 acres after a reduction of 600 acres due to better mapping.
The Sand Lake Fire (#292) totals 6,294 acres.
Fire activity on both incidents continues to be moderated due to an increase in Relative Humidities and lower temperatures. One-quarter to one-half of an inch of precipitation fell over the fire area yesterday which continues to deter fire spread. Isolated thunderstorms are predicted to continue into this evening, with heavier scattered showers forecasted.
Helicopter operations are vital to support the needs of personnel on the line as access is limited to air and water. Fire crews are staffing adjacent to values at risk while the diminishing fire threat remains. The team continues to coordinate with the local unit for initial attack response.
A Type 3 incident management team shadowed for a full day yesterday and conducted the 6:00 p.m. planning meeting last evening. An official transfer of command occurred this morning at 8:00 a.m. A total of 51 personnel is assigned to the two fires.
