Salcha Fires display decrease in fire activity overnight

Plans to staff this fire with a Type 3 incident management team have been altered due to higher priority fires that threaten communities and infrastructure. These fires will continue to be monitored and evaluated for further action.

The Monte Cristo Fire (#319) is 6,758 acres at last report and it is located 12 miles south of river mile 48 of the Salcha River. This fire has remained unstaffed due to higher priority fires threatening communities and infrastructure in the region. It has been monitored by air and displayed intermittent runs of active fire behavior.

The Uncle Sam Creek Fire (#376) Due to better mapping the acreage has been reduced to 685. It is located approximately 19 miles east of Salcha. Discovered on June 22.

The Ricks Creek Fire (#206) is 16,720 acres at last report. It is located approximately 60 miles east of Fairbanks. This fire has been monitored by air but remained unstaffed due to higher priority fires threatening communities and infrastructure in the region.
