7 Mile Lookout Fire (#222)
Size: 3,841 acres Location: 7 miles southwest of Tok, AK.
Start Date: June 19, 2025 Cause: Lightning Containment: 54% Total Personnel: 120
Evacuation levels for neighborhoods near the 7 Mile Lookout Fire (#222): Residents north of Butch Kuth Ave and on Jack Wade Road are at READY (Level 1). Residents on Osprey, Moose Nugget, and Goshawk Roads are at SET (Level 2).
Yesterday’s Activities: Areas of interior burning could be observed on the fire yesterday. Containment remains at 54% however most of the smoke was from islands of green fuel in the interior that were burning last afternoon yesterday. Fire activity also increased due to winds on the southern edge. Several aerial reconnaissance flights were conducted to observe fire activity and to give incoming personnel some situational awareness. Crews continued to improve existing lines and respond to hot spots; several loads of water were dropped on hotspots on the northern fire edge.
Today’s Activities: Firefighters’ top priority today is securing the containment lines already in place. Crews will patrol for hotspots and reinforce key areas to prevent any potential spread. Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) will fly over the fire this morning to map heat signatures along the perimeter, helping firefighters identify and target specific problem areas. On the south side of the fire, crews are completing brush clearing and finalizing handline preparation connecting the southern edge of the fire to the Seven Mile Lookout route. If weather and fuel conditions remain favorable, firing operations may continue along this line. Time permitting, mop-up work will also begin in recently burned areas nearby. Near the east flank, isolated heat remains in previously identified locations, but overall fire activity has decreased thanks to continued favorable weather. Crews will remain on scene to monitor and respond as needed. As part of the planned transition, command of the incident transferred at 8:00 a.m. this morning to a Type 3 Incident Management Team, led by Incident Commander Rob Gubser. Crews already working the fire remain in place and continue with suppression efforts.

Tok River Fire (#289)
Size: 334 acres Location: 10 miles south of Tok, AK.
Start Date: June 19, 2025 Cause: Lightning Containment: 100% Total Personnel: 39
Activities: Containment is now at 100% on the Tok River Fire. Containment means that the fire edge is not expected to grow. Crews will continue working on mop-up, hot-spotting, and gridding operations in the boggy areas on both sides of the river. The objective is to extend this work up to 300 feet inward from the fire’s edge.
Aircraft and Drone Restrictions : A temporary flight restriction (TFR) is still in place over the fire and will continue to be until further notice. The public is asked not to fly any type of aircraft, including drones, near the fire area. Unauthorized drone (UAS) flights pose serious risks to the effectiveness of wildfire suppression operations. Aerial firefighting is suspended when unauthorized UAS are in the area, allowing wildfires to grow larger.
Remember: If you fly, we can’t.
