Operations: On the Aggie Creek Fire, crews established two spike camps near the Chatanika River and began structure protection on the upper cabins along the river corridor. Six additional water pumps were transported downriver yesterday, and personnel will begin to open up an old dozer line from the Minto Fire to create additional containment lines. Mop up along the pipeline continues. Yesterday, firefighters on the Obrien Fire moved to the Jager and Summit shelters to begin creating defensible space. They will lay hose and fill water tanks for additional protection. On the north side of the Himalaya Road Fire, crews worked to break down berms from dozer line and search for any remaining hot spots. Excess equipment is being consolidated to re-deploy to the Aggie Creek Fire.
Weather: The warming and drying trend is expected to continue through the weekend and into early next week. This afternoon 5-10mph west/northwest winds are in the forecast.
