The Twelvemile Lake Fire (#220) sits at 23,423 acres.
The Sand Lake Fire (#292) totals 6,294 acres.
Moderate fire activity was seen yesterday on the Twelvemile (#220) and Sand Lake (#292) fires. Light precipitation fell over the fires which aided in the subdued fire activity but only added up to .05 of an inch total.
Resources are working to strengthen point and structure protection along the fire perimeters and around native allotments that have been identified. An InfraRed (IR) flight has been ordered to identify heat signatures that will aid crews in mop up operations. The remote areas that the fires are in require helicopter and boat operations to support the substantial logistical needs of the resources on the ground. Work to remove hazards to firefighting personnel, such as snags (standing dead trees) is on going. IA response is being coordinated with the local unit.
