Today, transition of command began between SW CIMT3 and RM CIMT2. SW CIMT3 would like to thank the community, and agency hosts for their support and hospitality throughout our time in Alaska.
Operations: On the southeast side of the Aggie Creek Fire, firefighters are working to cut a mastication line to the fire perimeter which will create better access points for crews to mop up. Pumps are being moved to the pipeline and crews will lay hose today. Crews on the Obrien Fire stayed overnight to double-check the hose around each of the BLM shelters and monitor conditions. On the southeast side of the Himalaya Road Fire, a masticator is removing fuels to widen the existing dozer line that extends towards Caribou Creek. Crews continue to mop up and look for hot spots.
Weather: Warming and drying is expected to continue through early next week. The fires started producing more smoke today, leading to lower visibility.
Smoke: For smoke outlook updates go to https://outlooks.airfire.org/outlook/e16e3fa2.
Closures: No road closures reported. Check https://511.alaska.gov/map for road conditions. Olnes Pond, the Whitefish Campground and the western portion of the White Mountains NRA are closed due to fire activity.

Evacuations: Level 1 “READY,” and Level 2 “SET,” evacuations are in effect for these fires. SET means be ready to evacuate on a moment’s notice. Visit https://bit.ly/FNSBevac for current evacuation levels.
Safety: Drivers must use extreme caution on Elliott Highway. Do not stop, be alert and watch out for firefighters working in the area. Smoke may limit visibility. A Temporary Flight Restriction is in place. Do not fly drones over the fire area. Unauthorized drone use poses serious risks to firefighter and public safety.
