7 Mile Lookout Fire (#222)

Size: 3,924 acres Location: 7 miles southwest of Tok, AK

Start Date: June 19, 2025 Cause: Lightning Containment: 55% Total Personnel: 131

Evacuation levels for neighborhoods near the 7 Mile Lookout Fire (#222): Residents north of Butch Kuth Ave and on Jack Wade Road are at READY (Level 1). Residents on Osprey, Moose Nugget, and Goshawk Roads are at SET (Level 2).

Yesterday’s Activities: Containment lines were strengthened, and firefighters continued to work to connect the southern edge of the fire to the 7 Mile Lookout Access Route. Crews took advantage of minimal fire activity in the morning to participate in a medical training covering CPR, splinting, bleeding, and allergies to learn how to keep themselves and their crew members safe on the line.

Today’s Activities: Crews will continue to strengthen containment lines by continuing mop-up operations, targeting hotspots, and working to connect the southern edge of the fire to the 7 Mile Lookout Access Route. Aviation is available to support as needed.

Tok River Fire (#289)

Size: 334 acres Location: 10 miles south of Tok, AK

Start Date: June 19, 2025 Cause: Lightning Containment: 100% Total Personnel: 0

Activities: All firefighting resources have been released from the incident and reassigned to the 7 Mile Lookout Fire, other ongoing wildfires, or returned to their home units. Aerial resources will continue to monitor conditions. Additional resources remain nearby and are prepared to respond if fire activity increases. This will be the final update on the Tok River Fire unless significant changes occur.

Weather: Fire managers are remaining vigilant due to forecasted higher temperatures and low relative humidities that may lead to increased fire activity. A high pressure ridge is expected to move in today.

Aircraft and Drone Restrictions: A temporary flight restriction (TFR) remains in place over the fire and will continue to be until further notice. The public is asked not to fly any type of aircraft, including drones, near the fire area. Unauthorized drone (UAS) flights pose serious risks to the effectiveness of wildfire suppression operations. Aerial firefighting is suspended when unauthorized UAS are in the area, allowing wildfires to grow larger.

Remember: If you fly, we can’t.
