Storms moving through may cause wind driven flare-ups in areas that are holding heat in the black spruce forest and heavy fuels.

Goldstream Creek Fire (#270): Several hotshot crews are working hard in wet, buggy conditions near Two Mile Lake area strengthening the line on the Goldstream Fire. Structure protection in the Little Goldstream community is continuing. This work includes assessing properties to identify ways to help reduce damage to this community from wildfire now and in the future, removing vegetation and other combustibles from around homes, and filling portable water tanks with tenders to supply sprinkler systems.  Pioneer Peak Hotshots worked direct on the east side of the fire by attacking hotspots and backed that up with indirect line on the next ridge over. The White Mountain crew is spiked out on the northeast and were tasked with checking growth to the east up Ohio Creek. Crews along the highway are buttoning up work to remove fire-damaged hazard trees along this critical road corridor.

Bonanza Creek Fire (#238): Hotshots continued work on the northeast finger of the fire Monday, mopping up the perimeter that is still holding heat in dozer piles and other heavy fuels. They also are working from this area south towards the Tanana River to open up roads creating an indirect line. On the southwest edge, crews and heavy equipment are almost done building indirect line from Bonanza Creek Road, running north towards the highway, and will be moving to the east and directly along the edge of the fire around this most southern tip.
