Tlozhavun Fire (#448) – The Tlozhavun Fire (#448), located approximately 10 miles south of Fort Yukon, remains at 21 acres and is currently 50% contained. The fire continues to be managed under a full suppression strategy, with 35 personnel assigned, including smokejumpers, the Olympic National Park fire module, and the Council of Athabaskan Tribal Governments Type 2 crew. Fire behavior remains moderate, characterized by creeping and smoldering.
Crews have made substantial progress, expecting to complete mop up operations to a depth of 50 feet along the fire perimeter today. Looking ahead, crews will continue mopping up heavier fuels while working toward 100% mop up over the next few days.
The weather forecast calls for warmer and drier conditions through the weekend, with an increasing chance of showers and thunderstorms. Fire personnel will continue to monitor fire activity closely, adjusting tactics as needed to ensure suppression goals are met.
