Tlozhavun Fire 80% contained

The Tlozhavun Fire (#448), located 10 miles south of Fort Yukon, remains at 21 acres and is now 80% contained. Crews are looking to achieve a 100-foot mop up today.

Tlozhavun Fire (#448) – The Tlozhavun Fire, located approximately 10 miles south of Fort Yukon, remains at 21 acres and is now 80% contained. The fire is being managed under a full suppression strategy, with 35 personnel assigned. Resources include smokejumpers, the Olympic National Park fire module, and the Council of Athabaskan Tribal Governments Type 2 crew.

Fire behavior continues to be moderate, characterized by creeping and smoldering, with only a few interior smokes observed. Rainy, cloudy weather is expected over the next 24 to 36 hours.

Crews have completed 50-foot mop up operations around the fire’s perimeter. Today, they will focus on achieving 100-foot mop up depth. The objective is to attain 100% containment by extinguishing any lingering heat.
