Activities: On Thursday morning, the fire area received minimal rainfall, leaving lingering heat in drainages due to the lack of significant moisture. Fire managers note that although fire activity has moderated, heat and unburned vegetation between the fire’s edge and established control lines still pose a threat. To address this risk, firefighters are actively preparing control lines for potential burnout operations.
Today, crews will continue clearing vegetation and conducting mop up operations. Firefighters are concentrating efforts along the 7 Mile Lookout Access Road. Their work includes removing trees, downed logs and brush that could compromise control lines. If weather conditions allow in the coming days, fire managers may initiate a burnout operation to remove fuels between the fire and control lines, further protecting homes and infrastructure in the area.
The Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC) Fire Crew and Mat-Su Fire Crew have been working tirelessly on the fireline and are just days away from a well-earned break. The TCC Fire Crew, a 20-person Type 2 Initial Attack team based in Tok, Alaska, was established in 2010 to support wildfire response statewide. The Mat-Su Crew, led by longtime firefighter and fuels technician Robin Ace-Maki, is also ready to respond wherever needed. These crews have been getting the job done on the 7 Mile Lookout Fire.

Weather: Rain is possible Friday as a weather system moves in, followed by warmer temperatures through the weekend. While breezy conditions will affect much of the eastern Interior, the fire area will remain mostly sheltered.
Aircraft and Drone Restrictions: A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) remains in effect over the fire area until further notice. The public is reminded not to fly any aircraft, including drones, near the fire. View the TFR details here: https://tfr.faa.gov/tfr3/?page=detail_5_1075
