Operations:
Fire activity remained low on Sunday, and evacuation levels around the 7 Mile Lookout Fire have been downgraded due to moderated fire behavior and the work done by fire crews.

Firefighters from Pioneer Peak Hotshots, Gannett Glacier Type 2 Initial Attack, and North Star Crew continued working along the southern edge of the fire. Crews cleared hazard trees, widened firelines, and burned piles of woody debris to help secure the perimeter.

A small test fire was conducted Sunday afternoon, but fuels under the tree canopy were too wet to burn completely. Crews plan to try again Monday if conditions allow. These test burns help clean up unburned areas inside the fire perimeter and reduce the chance of the fire escaping if hidden heat flares up.

Weather:
Temperatures will stay in the upper 60s to low 70s with mostly cloudy skies and a chance of isolated showers. A drying and warming trend is expected to continue into the week, with lighter winds.

Public Safety Reminder:
People are asked to stay out of the fire area. Burned trees are still falling and can be dangerous. There are also ash pits, which are holes in the ground where moss or leaves burn deep underground. They are hard to see and can cause serious burns if someone steps in the wrong spot.

A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) – FDC 5/4836 – is still in effect. Flying drones or other aircraft near the fire is not allowed.
If you fly, we can’t.
