Kenai area fires

Air tankers are dropping water on the Funny River Horse Trail Fire and retardent on the Tyonek Fire.

The Pioneer Peak Interagency Hotshot Crew is on their way to Tyonek and the Gannett Glacier Initial Attack Crew is on their way to the Funny River.

Both fires have grown to 80 acres.

No structures are threatened by the Funny River fire. It is burning south towards Tustumena Lake.

The fire remains upwind of Tyonek village but there are natural barriers in between the two.
