A small task force of firefighters spent the past several days conducting an assessment of structure loss. It has been determined that 50 single residences have been destroyed, as well as 108 outbuildings, garages, sheds, workshops, or other miscellaneous secondary structures.

With fire activity greatly subdued, firefighters are now shifting their attention to retrieving equipment, disposing of woody debris and mopping up remaining hotspots deeper within the fire’s southern perimeter.
Firefighters are finishing work to stabilize natural hazards in burned neighborhoods along the southern edge of the Mukluk Fire on Friday. Officials plan to lift the remaining evacuation orders on Saturday and let residents return home.
While crews continue focused mop-up and hazard removal along the Mukluk Fire’s southern perimeter, firefighters remain vigilant on the eastern and western edges, where pockets of heat linger.
