The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for strong wind for the Matanuska Valley effective from noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25. Winds are expected to be 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Winds will increase early Wednesday afternoon and as temperatures climb the relative humidities will drop to 30 percent or lower. The Division of Forestry is advising people not to burn during this period and requesting that anyone who has been burning piles during the winter to check them for interior heat and make sure they are extinguished completely. And remember, burn permits are required starting on April 1.
