Fire Ban Remains in Place at Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve

FAIRBANKS, Alaska: Although some areas of the state are experiencing enough rain to decrease fire danger, that is not the case for lands within Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve. These areas are still dry, and with a forecast for a warming and drying trend, the prohibition on the use of all open fires and activities that unduly increase fire danger will continue.

Fireworks are always prohibited on National Park Service lands.

There are currently no fires in Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve.

Additional park information can be obtained at the Fairbanks Alaska Public Lands Information Center by calling (907) 459-3730 between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm daily or by visiting the website at http://www.nps.gov/gaar.
