State of Alaska, Division of Forestry would like to thank the public for their continued concerns regarding smoke in our area. Your calls to our office are a crucial part of locating fires and getting them out quickly/safely.
Numerous calls have come in regarding a smoke column east of Klutina lake. This fire was started 6/20 by lightning. Due to its remote, mountainous location and currently predicted weather, this fire is in monitor status. Monitoring will be done by aircraft or helicopter, so as to maintain quality information for public safety and updates for fire management decisions.

Size: approximately 200 acres
Location: 37 miles south of Glennallen
6 miles east and 8 miles south of the Klutina lake.
