Tuesday evening the Nevada Type 3 Incident Management Team (IMT), Tyler Hecht Incident Commander, assumed command of the area fires.  The team is headquartered at the school in Ruby, and spent the past operational period shadowing the outgoing IMT.

Due to the transition and direction to the new team, several of the local fires that the previous IMT were reporting on have been returned to the local Galena Zone for monitoring.  As a result, there is a new email, Facebook page, and InciWeb sites that will be focusing on the fires near the village of Ruby.

Ruby Slough Fire:  Firefighters removed all pumps, hoses, and other gear from the Ruby Slough fire and spent yesterday getting those items ready for return to caches, for use on future fires.  The fire continues be in monitoring status.

Bruno Fire:  Crews will continue to work on “snagging” the Poorman Road, as trees killed or weakened by the fire are falling across the road.  They are also continuing protection of structures in the area.  The public is urged to limit travel on Poorman Road to minimize conflicts with the firefighting forces.

Big Creek Two Fire: Cooler, wetter weather over the fire area Tuesday limited fire behavior, mostly creeping and smoldering was seen during aerial reconnaissance flights.  Low to moderate fire behavior is expected again today which will help firefighters secure structure protection efforts on the remote cabins on the east side of the fire.

Yukon River:  Structure assessment and protection activities are continuing along the Yukon and Nowitna River banks by the Calaveras Wildfire Module.

There is a Notice to Airmen in effect for a 25 mile radius around the village of Ruby.  For other areas, please see and avoid air traffic around fires.
