What: Middle Yukon Fires
Location: A series of fires are located near Ruby, Alaska on the Galena Fire Management Zone and the western end of the Tanana Zone. The major firefighting efforts at this time are concentrated on 3 fires on the south side of the Yukon River near the village of Ruby.
Fire Names: The following fires are now being reported in the daily Incident Status Summary (ICS-209) as “Middle Yukon Fires”: Ruby Slough #423 (49 acres), Bruno Creek #479 (15,232 acres), Trail Creek #599 (32,686 acres), and Big Creek Two #533 (332,451) acres
Size: Approximately 395,111 acres

Ruby Slough Fire: The fire continues be in a monitoring status.
Bruno Fire: To improve the visibility of fire vehicles and personnel working along Poorman Road, crews are thinning some vegetation on blind corners. The public is urged to limit travel along the Poorman Road and be watchful of crews working along the road. Additional structures south of the fire are being assessed and scouting is occurring for a contingency fireline to be constructed in the Glen Gulch area.
Big Creek Two Fire: Firefighters will continue with structure protection efforts on the remote cabins on the east side of the fire. Weather conditions yesterday and today will allow aerial reconnaissance flights to occur.
Trail Creek Fire: The Trail Creek and Tip Creek fires have burned together and are being reported as the Trail Creek fire.
Yukon River area: Assessment of supplies and equipment that needs to be removed from the Shovel Fire will occur. Aerial reconnaissance of the Melozitna Fire, that is north of the Yukon River.
There is a Notice to Airmen in effect for a 25 mile radius around the village of Ruby. For other areas, please see and avoid air traffic around fires.
