The Boundary River Fire (#362) is now estimated at 9,167 acres. The fire, which was started by lightning on June 23, is burning about 40 miles southeast of Tok, west of the Nabesna River and about 10 miles southwest of the village of Northway. A Type 2 crew completed structure assessment and protection on nearby structures and allotments. Firefighters are constructing direct handline and laying hoseline along the eastern flank. The fire is burning in black spruce, tundra, and grass. A Type 3 Incident Management Team took command of the fire earlier this week and additional resources are being mobilized to respond to the fire.
