#ShovelCreekFire The success of the multi-day strategic firing operation along Old Murphy Dome road depends on numerous factors, and one of the most is the continuous use and delivery of water. Crews utilizing pumps, sprinklers and portable water tanks were able to pretreat the private homes in the Martin neighborhood over the last 24 hours with over 160,000 gallons of water. Utilizing drip torches, hot shots light the fuels on the outside of this significant humidity bubble, creating a small fire that removes the ground fuels around the property.
