Dalton Highway motorists driving north of the Yukon River bridge crossing may see smoke from a lightning-caused fire burning 12 miles west of Milepost 83. The Doll Fire (#154) is burning in grass and tundra with nearby patches of snow in limited management option area. This fire is estimated to be about 150 acres. It is burning on Bureau of Land Management managed land within the BLM Alaska Fire Service Tanana Fire Management Zone. The fire is located 33 miles north of the Yukon River crossing and about 130 miles north of Fairbanks.

It was first noticed by BLM AFS personnel monitoring satellite imagery Monday morning. AFS personnel later flew over the fire to size it up. After making sure it wasn’t threatening any sites of value, it was placed in monitor status.
