Copper River Forestry was notified late Tuesday evening of a wildfire burning near mile 80 of the Denali Highway. The Snodgrass Fire #486 is estimated at 120 acres, with 80% containment.
12 Smokejumpers, a Wildland Fire Module from Farmington, New Mexico, an engine, and firefighting aircraft are working to finish containment on the Snodgrass Fire. Smoke is visible from the Denali Highway.
Please remember, a Red Flag Warning is in effect in the Copper River Basin until 10pm tonight, July 7th 2022. NO OPEN BURNING IS ALLOWED in the Copper River Area. If you have questions call the Copper River information line at 907-822-5534 ext. 2.
