
Prospect Fire (#494) was added to the Dalton Highway Complex yesterday. Two previously reported fires, the Fish Fire (#319) and Snowden Fire (#330) have been removed from the update due to inactivity. The acreage of those fires will continue to show in the total acreage of the complex.
The Douglas Fire (#336) showed active fire behavior The near the highway yesterday. Last night’s active winds may have pushed fire perimeters. Firefighters will evaluate the fires’ activity and evaluate any threats to values at risk in the fire areas today. Fire managers continue to prepare to move resources in to Rampart to prepare the community for future protection actions from the Troublesome Fire located about 12 miles east. There are 90 personnel currently assigned to the complex.
Dalton Highway Complex Fires (75,614 acres – note that the total acreage includes previously reported fires that are part of the total complex numbers).
- Curky Fire (#318) – 30,628 acres, located 4.5 miles west of MP 85.
- Douglas Fire (#336) – 20,343 acres, located along the highway between MP 140-149.
- Huron Fire (#372) – 15,199 acres, located 12 miles east of MP 359 and 19 miles northeast of Rampart.
- MM 125 (#441) – 1,234 acres, located at MP 125, east of highway.
- Prospect (#494) – 20 acres, located 3.3 miles east of mile marker 134.
- Troublesome Fire (#359) – 7,894 acres, 24 miles west of highway.

Fire Weather (Warnings/Watches): A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for fire weather over the Interior. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms remain over the area Thursday and Friday. These storms bring the opportunity for abundant lightning and the potential for additional fires. The gusty winds from last night may continue up to 30 mph near passes. Temperatures today will be 77-87 degrees and relative humidity levels will be 29-44%.
Closures: Arctic Circle Campground remains closed due to area firefighting activity. The Arctic Circle Wayside (sign location) is open.
Public Safety: Driving on the Dalton Highway is dangerous due to smoke, traffic, and narrow shoulders. While driving on the highway, use caution and drive with headlights on. Stopping at anytime along the highway is a danger both to the driver and other vehicles on the road.
