The Poorman Complex is transitioning to a Type 4 incident, tomorrow July 17

Beginning tomorrow, Sunday, July 17, at 0700, the Poorman Complex will transition to a Type 4 incident with Incident Commander Mike Seaton assuming command. As the Southern Area Gray team transitions out, we would like to thank the village of Ruby for their support and hospitality during the past two weeks.

Rainfall across the Poorman Complex yesterday resulted in minimal fire growth and activity. Today, increased humidity and cloud coverage is expected to continue. More rain is forecast for tomorrow, moderating fire growth and behavior. Baker River Hotshots remain on the incident to monitor fire behavior and support structure protection as needed.

  • Camp Creek Fire (#352): Current estimated acreage is 65,621. Fire behavior includes minimal creeping and backing. Structure preparation is complete in the Poorman Road area about 5 miles from the fire.
  • Donut Fire (#335): Current estimated acreage is 60,925. The fire continues to grow to the north into an area burned in 2015. Fire activity includes slow backing and creeping in the area burning the residual vegetation from previous burn.
  • Sunset Fire (#369): Current estimated acreage remains at 3,002. This fire remains in monitor status with minimal fire activity expected. The fire ran into natural barriers with a bog on the east side, a creek along the west side, and the Yukon River to the south.
