Final update for the Lime Complex unless significant activity occurs

July 26, 2022

Favorable weather conditions received within the last week moderated fire activity and allowed firefighters to complete their work in the Lime Complex. Firefighters shifted their focus to backhauling equipment, supplies and trash by aircraft from Lime Village, Iliamna, and Sleetmute to the Division of Forestry Fire and Protection Fire Cache in Palmer. Backhauling operations were completed Monday, and firefighters have departed the area for reassignment. Fire Managers will continue to monitor fires in the Lime Complex by air, and will mobilize firefighters if needed.

The Lime Complex consists of eighteen fires in an area covering 21 million acres. The total size of the combined fires is 865,620 acres. Each of these fires was caused by lightning.
