8:30 PM UPDATE: Firefighters are cutting a sawline around the fire. Multiple bucket drops by the helicopter has knocked a lot of energy out of the fire slowing its growth. The fire continues to smolder in dead and down, jackstraw piles of trees. Firefighters will continue working into the evening, releasing the helicopter when it needs to return for fuel.
This will be the last update for the evening unless significant activity occurs.
7:00 PM UPDATE: Alaska Division of Forestry and Fire Protection is responding to a reported grass fire near Mile 21 Chena Hot Springs Road. Forestry engines and helitack are on scene and report a 3-acre fire burning in grass, black spruce and hardwoods. A van load of BLM Alaska Smokejumpers is enroute. More information will be reported on the Trickey Fire ( #077) as it becomes available.
