🟢 Level 1 “READY”:

Evacuation shelters remain open at Hutchison High School in Fairbanks and the Nenana Student Living Center. Services include meals, supplies, charging stations, and 24/7 volunteer support. For help, call 1-800-RED-CROSS. An emergency animal shelter is available at 3175 Peger Road (call ahead), and a clean air room is open during regular hours at Noel Wien Library for those affected by smoke.
Fire Weather: Isolated rain showers passed over the fire area on Monday with little effect on fire behavior. Thunderstorms brought lightning across the Interior, tapering off overnight. A cold front is expected Tuesday through Thursday, bringing continued rain—totals ranging from 0.10 to 1 inch are forecast across the region. Cool, cloudy conditions will persist midweek, with ridge-top winds increasing up to 20 mph. A warming, drying trend is expected to return this weekend.
Bonanza Creek Fire (#238): Crews are strengthening control lines and mopping up along Bonanza Creek Road to eliminate heat sources that could reignite. Masticators are being used to widen the road corridor, while firefighters continue tying containment lines into the Tanana River. Crews are also scouting additional options for dozer and hand line construction around the fire perimeter. Air attack and scoopers were actively engaged to support ground efforts and slow fire spread, especially on the west side of the fire where it had been most active.
Goldstream Creek Fire (#270): Fire activity on the eastern flank prompted the use of multi-engine scoopers on Monday to slow the spread and protect the highway corridor. Ground crews continue to prioritize structure protection and defensible space work around homes. Water tenders and portable tanks are supporting hose lays throughout the area, and fire lines are holding around Two Mile Lake as firefighters build on previous progress. Because of passing showers, crews were not able to complete firing operations along the highway on Monday.
Drones were utilized to improve fire mapping and detect hot spots, helping guide firefighting efforts. These specialized drones coordinate closely with aircraft in the area. Residents are reminded never to fly personal drones near wildfires. If an unauthorized drone is spotted, all aerial operations are immediately grounded until the airspace is clear, putting firefighters and communities at greater risk.

Road Safety: Firefighters and equipment are active along roadways day and night, please drive slowly and use extreme caution. Expect significant delays on the Parks Highway due to smoke and fire activity. The Alaska Department of Transportation is assisting with flaggers and pilot cars; follow instructions and be prepared for long wait times. Check 511.alaska.gov for current road conditions.
Power Outages: Power remains off in areas affected by the Nenana Ridge Complex for firefighter safety. Crews are working close to powerlines and using aerial resources extensively, so electricity cannot be safely restored until fire activity decreases. There is currently no estimated time for restoration.
