KEY MESSAGE: The speed limit on the Parks Highway will be raised from 45 mph to 65 mph tomorrow afternoon, as fire activity has moderated near the corridor. The public is urged to be vigilant for fire-related traffic in the area.

At mid-day briefing field operations personnel gather real time information from firefighters in the field to plan the next shift’s work.
CURRENT STATUS:
Bear Creek Fire (#237): Crews focused on patrolling established lines and began backhauling equipment from the Bear Creek and June Creek areas.
Saint George Creek Fire (#246): Crews were active on the west and east sides of the fire. Firefighters continued mop-up and gridding along with a planned Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) flight to assess the fireline south of Gold King Creek.
WEATHER AND FIRE BEHAVIOR
Tomorrow will be cool and cloudy with scattered showers likely. Fire behavior is expected to remain moderate, with smoldering and creeping continuing in interior areas of the fire. Alaska remains in its fire season and the public should expect intermittent smoke in the burn areas until a season-ending rain event occurs. For smoke information visit: https://fire.airnow.gov.
EVACUATION AND ASSISTANCE INFORMATION
The State of Alaska is offering Individual and Family Grants (IFG) and Temporary Housing Grants (THG) through the Alaska Individual Assistance Program for those impacted by the fires. Apply between June 27–August 27, 2025. Visit: https://ready.alaska.gov/Recovery/IA Call: 844-445-7131.
On July 9, the evacuation status for Bear Creek fire was downgraded from SET to READY. Residents in READY status should remain alert and monitor for updates.
