DFFP responds to Jonesville Fire at Jonesville Shooting Range

Palmer, AK –

9:15 PM: The Jonesville Fire (#100) is now at 1.7 acres. The fire has been contained by hose lay around the fire perimeter. Pioneer Peak Hotshot Crew will continue work until roughly 10 PM. One engine will remain overnight to patrol. Firefighters will re-engage in the morning to ensure full suppression.

This will be the last update of the night.

7:15 PM: A fire at Jonesville Shooting Range on Jonesville Rd near Sutton was reported at 6:40 PM on Monday.  The Division of Forestry & Fire Protection has engines on scene and a helicopter doing bucket work on the Jonesville Fire (#100). Structure fire departments are also on scene, providing support. Additionally, the Pioneer Peak Hotshot Crew has been ordered to help with suppression efforts.

The fire is currently 0.5 acres and burning in grass, black spruce, and hardwoods.

Updates will be provided as more details become available.

Please avoid the area to give firefighters and aviation resources a safe space to work.
