Firefighters continue to make steady progress on the Grandview Fire (#204), which is now 60% contained.

On Friday, fire activity remained minimal, allowing crews to focus on strengthening containment lines. Firefighters completed a hose lay around the fire perimeter and continued securing the fire’s edge. Crews identified more residual heat along the right flank and continue working to locate and extinguish remaining hotspots. Aerial drone missions were also conducted on Friday evening to help identify areas of remaining heat.

The Pioneer Peak Hotshot crew has been reassigned to the Mat-Su area following a lightning event that resulted in multiple new starts.

Saturday, the remaining Gannet Glacier Type 2IA Crew is continuing suppression efforts by strengthening containment lines and working to secure 50 feet in from the perimeter by locating and extinguishing remaining heat. An excavator is being used to mitigate hazardous trees as well as pull apart berms to ensure no hidden heat remains.
