DFFP Responds to Matanuska Fire near 36 Mile S Glenn Hwy

5:00 PM – The Matanuska Fire (#255) was called contained and controlled as of 4:50 PM at 0.32 acres. The helicopter and two engines have been released from the fire due to successful suppression efforts. Two engines remain on scene completing mop-up operations to ensure no heat remains.

3:30 PM – At 3:00 PM Sunday, DFFP received reports of a grass fire near mile 36 of the S Glenn Hwy. Upon arrival, resources discovered the 0.25-acre Matanuska Fire (#255) burning uphill in grass and hardwoods.

Four DFFP engines, one helicopter performing bucket work, and borough resources are currently engaged in suppression efforts on the incident.
