Anaconda Fire (#361) reported burning near Pleasant Valley

5:19 pm Update – Scoopers are making great progress on the fire and it is 1.5 acres.


4:50 pm Update – Smokejumpers are being requested to the fire. The fire is currently one acre and activity has not increased.


4:30 pm Update: A new wildfire, called the Anaconda Fire (#361), was reported at 2:30 p.m. today, Sunday, July 5, near Mile 23 of Chena Hot Springs Road. The fire was discovered after a resident reported smoke following recent lightning activity in the area.

The fire is currently estimated at 0.1 acres and is spreading to the south. While structures are located approximately one mile away, no buildings are immediately threatened, and no evacuations have been recommended.

Initial attack resources are actively responding. Aerial assets include an Air Attack plane, Fairbanks Forestry Helitack, and two single-engine scoopers. A Fire crew has also been requested and is currently mobilizing to the fire.

Vehicles are staging at the Pleasant Valley Store. Please avoid the area and let the firefighters have room to work.
