The Alaska Incident Management Team on the #funnyriverfire has planned community meetings for this evening (May 22) to bring the most updated information and maps about the fire to the community and answer questions. Those meetings will be held at Tustumena Elementary School at 6 pm and at the Funny River Community Center at 8 pm. The same information will be presented at both meetings so attend whichever is more convenient.
Two information phone lines are available. Information personnel at Skyview Incident Command Post are available at 714-2484. For information about preparedness, evacuation planning and other health and safety information related to the fire, contact the Kenai Peninsula Borough Office of Emergency Management Hotline at 714-2495.
Information is being posted around the community as well in the following locations: the Kasilof Mercantile, the River Center on Funny River Road, Fred Meyer, Safeway, mile 106 Sterling Hwy, and the USFWS refuge. Public information officers will rotate to the locations to provide spot updates and explain the maps for the Funny River Fire.
On the web information can be found in several places: The Kenai Peninsula Borough OEM webpage, The Alaska Incident Management Team Facebook Page, Inciweb, the Alaska Fire Information website and the Alaska Division of Forestry Facebook Page.
