Noon. A roundup of fires around the Yukon Flats that have updated information from Friday, July 3

#622 Marten Creek: 44 acres. Lightning, discovered on 6/24-25 miles northwest of Fort Yukon
Friday: Fire is 75% contained. There were six interior smokes reported at the end of shift Friday due to the warming and drying trend. Minimal fire activity reported.
Thursday: Fire is 65% contained. Firefighters are working on securing the south and west flanks. No new growth in acreage.
Wednesday: Firefighters made good progress Wednesday. Fire activity was minimal. Fire is 40% contained.
Tuesday: Demobilized four smokejumpers as the Upper Yukon #1 Type 2 Crew arrived. Minimal fire fie behavior was reported.
Monday: Six smokejumpers were deployed to the fire. Fire was observed to have increased in acreage and is 75% active burning in hardwoods and black spruce. It is estimated it will take 3 days to secure the line.
Sunday: A reconnaissance flight revealed the fire was creeping and smoldering with a 70% active perimeter.
Saturday: Fire remains in monitor status.
Friday: Resources requested for incident but unable to respond due to poor visibility. Another attempt will be made when conditions improve. Fire remains in monitor status.
Thursday: No new update.
Wednesday: The fire was reported by aircraft and has been placed into monitor status.

#592 Chahalie Lake: 4,267.8 acres. Lightning, discovered on 6/23-10 miles north of Chalkyitsik
Friday: Fire is reported to be smoldering. The southwest winds are keeping the fire in check, but are drying fuels potentially resulting in increased fire behavior over the next three days.
Thursday: Fort Yukon #1 split into two squads, one working the west and the other working the east side of the southern flank. Two miles of hose lay were completed and will be continued Friday. Minimal fire behavior was reported. A reduction in acreage is due to better mapping.
Wednesday: Fort Yukon #1 arrived on the fire and began their work.
Tuesday: Fort Yukon #1 Type 2 Crew is mobilizing to deploy to the fire. Fuel cache set up in Chalkyitsik for air operations. Acreage increase due to new mapping.
Monday: Reconnaissance showed the fire smoldering and active on the south and east sides. Increase in size to 3,500 acres.
Sunday: No new update.
Saturday: No new update.
Friday: Resources have been ordered but are unable to respond due to poor visibility.
Thursday: No new update.
Wednesday: West winds are moving this fire to the east.
Tuesday: Fire was reported Tuesday by aircraft. It has been placed into monitor status.

#568 Mt. Schwatka: 3,099.8 acres. Lightning, discovered on 6/23-74 miles southwest of Fort Yukon
Friday: A reconnaissance flight reported the fire to be 5% active on the southwest corner and backing in spruce. No smokes were visible in the interior portion of the fire. Fire remains in monitor status.
Thursday: No new update.
Wednesday: Minimal fire behavior is reported. Fire remains in monitor status.
Tuesday: New mapping added to the acreage.
Monday: Reconnaissance showed no visible smoke or fire. Total updated acres 2,800. Fire remains in monitor status.
Sunday: No new update.
Saturday: No new update.
Friday: Fire reported to be active with torching. Fire is burning in all fuel types. Small acreage increase of 17 acres+. Fire remains in monitor status.

Tuesday: Fire was reported by aircraft. The fire has a 70% active perimeter that is creeping in all fuel types. It has been placed into monitor status.

#536 Hamlin Creek: 19,027.4 acres. Lightning, discovered on 6/22-five miles south of Stevens Village
Friday: Fire is reported to be most active on the northwest corner and east flanks. Fire remains in monitor status.
Thursday: No new update.
Wednesday: No new update.
Tuesday: Acreage increase reflects more accurate mapping.
Monday: Reconnaissance showed no significant change in acreage. Fire was 40% active on the southern flank with smoke visible on the south perimeter.
Sunday: No new update.

Wednesday: West winds are moving this fire to the east.
Tuesday the fire was flown and was observed to be creeping and torching with continuous crowning. It is active but hasn’t moved out of the hills east of the Yukon. Too smokey to get accurate acreage. Fire is in monitor status.
Monday: Numerous reports of this fire. Fire size is 4,000, acres. Fire behavior is running with continuous crowning, burning in black spruce on flat terrain. There are no values at risk, although there is an allotment to the north, but the fire wants to move west.

 

#480 Hardpac Creek: 39,488 acres. Lightning, discovered on 6/21-100 miles west of Fort Yukon
Friday: A reconnaissance flight reported the fire to have a 30% active perimeter with most active areas being the northwest and southeast corners. Fire remains in monitor status.
Thursday: No new update.
Wednesday: Fire activity is minimal with backing and creeping reported. There has been some growth around the perimeter. Fire remains in monitor status.
Tuesday: New mapping shows an acreage increase.
Monday: No new update.
Sunday: No new update.
Saturday: Fire remains in monitor status.
Friday: Current mapping shows a 2,555 acre increase.
Thursday: No new update.

Tuesday the fire was observed to be 90% active burning in black spruce and tundra with group torching and continuous crowning. Fire remains in monitor status.

#462 Crater Fire: 97.2 acres. Lightning, discovered on 6/21-65 miles northwest of Fort Yukon, 20 miles northwest of Venetie
Friday: Reconnaissance reported no smokes showing. Fire remains in monitor status.
Thursday: No new update.
Wednesday: Fire demobilized 6/30. There has been minimal fire behavior reported. Fire in monitor status.
Tuesday:
Monday: Remainder of personnel demobilized. The fire is controlled, contained and has been placed into monitor status.
Sunday: Personnel cold trailed a 150-feet wide perimeter. Minimal smokes visible in the interior of the fire. Fort Yukon #1 was demobilized
Saturday: There was a 12-acre increase as crews continue mop-up operations.
Friday: Firefighters continue mop-up and gridding
Thursday: Fort Yukon #1 continued working on hose lay along the west side of the fire and began mop-up. Reported overall operations going well.
Wednesday: Fire increased to 50 acres. No smoke was seen on the western flanks, although across the top and the head of the fire has hot spots with smoke still showing. A hose lay is in progress. Fort Yukon #1 Type 2 Crew is assigned to the fire.
Tuesday: Firefighters worked on hose lays. Fire behavior is creeping.
Monday: Fire reported by flight services. About 10 acres with 60% active perimeter. It is smoldering and creeping in old burn. 9 smokejumpers on the fire. reporting fire is backing up the hill. They are trying get hose lay on it and finish working the active spots. Should have 18 people by end of shift 6/23 after crew shuttle is complete.

#428 Crazy Slough: 8,258.3 acres. Lightning, discovered on 6/20-27 miles west of Fort Yukon
Friday: Reconnaissance reports no activity on the fire’s perimeter with no smokes showing. Fire remains in monitor status.
Thursday: An increase in acreage was reported.
Wednesday: No new update.
Tuesday: Increase in acreage is due to more accurate mapping.

Friday: Reconnaissance reported the fire be 60% active and backing to the southwest. An increase in acreage was reported. Fire remains in monitor status.
Thursday: No new update.
Wednesday: Active fire behavior with torching and backing observed. There is activity along all of perimeter and continued growth to the southwest. An increase in acreage was reported. Fire is in monitor status.
Tuesday: Reduction in acreage is due to more accurate mapping.
