(Fairbanks) – The Fish Fire (#319) is 100 percent contained at 231 acres, as of today. Crews will continue to monitor and walk the perimeter. The Douglas Fire 336 has grown to 10,789 acres. Crews suppress the fire where it nears the Alaska pipeline and monitor where no values are at risk. The Curky Fire 318 is 6,775 acres. Crews are monitoring and providing point protection for the pipeline and other values at risk. The Snowden Fire 330 remains at 65 acres and is being monitored by air as conditions permit.
As the current high pressure system moves east, conditions will trend hotter and drier as the week progresses. Relative humidity may drop into the teens and high temperatures will reach into the upper 70’s to mid 80’s. Little or no rain is expected, but thunderstorm activity will increase slightly on Wednesday and more on Thursday as the system circles back over the region. The chance of ignitions will significantly increase under these conditions. Smoke and poor air quality will persist through the week.
