Fire
There are 152 active fires across the State. The following large fires are likely to affect air quality in the Outlook area over the coming days: Anderson Complex, Lost Horse Creek, McCoy, Pogo Mine, and Delta. Additional details on fires are available at AICC Fire Info. Any community adjacent to active fire may experience periods of degraded air quality so stay informed by visiting the Fire and Smoke Map.
Smoke
Portions of the Outlook area received wetting rains yesterday and smoke production should be slightly moderated today with chances of additional showers possible in some locations. Heavy concentrations of smoke that settled in the Tanana River Valley last night, notably in Nenana and Delta Junction, will begin moving around this AM. Periods of Unhealthy air quality are possible in the AM for Fairbanks and North Pole, with better conditions expected mid-afternoon. Delta Junction, Nenana, and Tok will likely see Unhealthy conditions throughout most of the day, with slight improvement in the afternoon. Healy and areas south, including visitors to Denali should enjoy Good air quality for most of the day after smoke lifts this AM.
