Killey River Fire contained, controlled and in monitor status

Alaska Division of Forestry & Fire Protection (DFFP) Gannet Glacier Type 2 Initial attack Crew completed a grid of the entire Killey River Fire (#060) area on Monday finding no heat or visible smokes. In anticipation of demobilizing, they started breaking down their pump and hose systems. The 7.7-acre fire is located along the river about 5-miles southeast of Funny River within the 2014 Funny River Fire perimeter.

Tuesday morning the crew made a final grid of the fire and declared it contained, controlled and placed in monitor status. They finished collecting their equipment, cleared their camp of personal gear and trash. A helicopter started shuttling the crew to the Soldotna/Kenai-Kodiak Area Helibase. The last of the crew was clear of the fire by mid-afternoon.

This will be the final update for the Killey River Fire unless there are significant changes.
