This will be the last update of the night.
6:00 PM: DFFP received reports of an active wildfire near Bulchitna Lake at approximately 2:00 PM on Thursday. Upon arrival, a DFFP helicopter located the Yentna Fire (#104), a 1-acre wildfire burning in grass, hardwoods, and black spruce.
Helicopter bucket drops successfully knocked down the active fire edge. The helicopter will shuttle a 6-person suppression module from the Mat-Su Type 2 Fire Crew and a 3-person engine crew with additional supplies to assist with containment efforts.
While structures are present in the area, they are not currently threatened due to the effective aerial suppression efforts.
We will continue to provide updates as more details become available.
