7:00 – The Grandview Fire (#204) is now estimated at 30 acres. An air tanker has completed a drop and is returning to the tanker base in Palmer to reload before heading back to the fire. An additional helicopter is en route from Fairbanks. In addition to the Gannet Glacier Type 2 IA Crew, the Pioneer Peak Hotshot Crew is en route to support suppression efforts. Single-engine scoopers continue to make water drops on the fire, and more have been ordered from Fairbanks. Multiple dozers are also on scene constructing containment lines.

Flying a drone near an active wildfire is both dangerous and illegal. Remember, if you fly, we can’t.

5:30 PM – The Division of Forestry & Fire Protection received reports of a fire near Swanson River Rd and Jacobsen Ave E in Sterling, roughly 10 miles east of Soldotna, AK. Resources on scene initially sized the fire (#204) at 5-10 acres, burning in grass, brush, and black spruce. Various vehicles and power lines are currently threatened.

Multiple DFFP engines and a helicopter conducting bucket work are currently on scene. Additional resources, including a retardant tanker, two single-engine scoopers, air attack, and the Gannet Glacier Type 2 IA Crew, have been ordered.

We will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.
