The Level 3 GO! evacuation zone has been reduced in size from how it appeared Monday and Tuesday. Residents have been asked to avoid entering the evacuation area. Returning residents can block access and delay firefighters. Additionally, active fire, hazardous materials, downed power lines, hidden ash pits, and fire-weakened trees remain significant hazards.
New areas have been identified as Ready and Set zones around the community of Tok so that the residents have a better understanding of the Mukluk Fire’s (#487) proximity to where they live. Level 3 GO! (RED)
Midnight Sun Zone is for the area on the north side of the Alaska Highway from Sun Dog Trail on the west to 5th Street East on the east to north of Red Fox Drive.
Level 2 SET (Yellow)
Sundog Zone is for the area on the north side of the Alaska Highway from Makenzie Trail on the west to Sun Dog Trail on the east to Red Fox Drive on the north. The homes west of Sun Dog Trail and north of Red Fox Drive are also included in this zone.
Willow West Zone is for the area north of West Willow Way from Sun Dog Trail on the west side to West C Street on the east and south of the Alaska Highway
Tok City Zone is for the area north of West Willow Way from West C Street and Moose Horn Road on the west to East D Street on the east and south of 3rd Avenue.
Level 1 READY (Green)
Mckenzie Zone is for the area west of Makenzie Trail, north of Borealis Avenue, south of Red Fox Drive.
Scoby Zone is for the area south of the Alaska Highway, east of Makenzie Trail, west of Scoby Way and north of Borealis Avenue
Borealis Zone is for the area south of Willow Avenue West, east of D Street East, west of Scoby Way and north of Borealis Avenue
Airport Zone is for the area north and south of the Alaska Highway, east of D Street East to east of the musher’s hall.
Fire activity has increased on the northwest portion of the fire. Aircraft, dozers and firefighters are working to minimize the fire’s spread.
