Rex Complex Fires update, July 19

Rex Complex Fires Update for July 19, 2015

(Anderson, AK) — Wildfires in the Rex Complex received heavy rain over the last 36 hours, aiding in suppression efforts and keeping fire spread in check.

With the wetter weather conditions, Rex Complex Incident Commander Avi Shalom expects crews to make good progress over the next several days, allowing incident personal to gradually redirect efforts away from suppression and toward repairing dozer lines and other areas impacted by firefighting efforts.

As a reminder, a Temporary Flight Restriction centered 5 miles around the Fish Creek Fire will remain in place until crews are no longer being shuttled in and out by helicopter daily. More specific information about that TFR can be found at tfr.faa.gov/tfr2/list.html.

This is expected to be the final update for the Rex Complex. Additional updates may be posted or emailed, but only if the situation changes significantly.
