A small task force of firefighters spent the past several days conducting an assessment of structure loss. It has been determined that 50 single residences have been destroyed, as well as 108 outbuildings, garages, sheds, workshops, or other miscellaneous secondary structures.

While crews continue focused mop-up and hazard removal along the Mukluk Fire’s southern perimeter, firefighters remain vigilant on the eastern and western edges, where pockets of heat linger.
Around 250 firefighters, supported by numerous engines and heavy equipment, are working throughout the neighborhoods impacted by the Mukluk Fire. This surge of personnel and machinery reflects strong momentum and a focused plan to make the area safe for residents before they return.
Evacuation levels have changed, reducing the Level 3 GO! to the properties within the Mukluk Fire footprint. Work progresses to ensure the area within the fire’s perimeter is safe to repopulate these neighborhoods once work is complete in the Midnight Sun Zone evacuation zone.
Recent significant rainfall in the Mukluk Fire area allowed officials to lift Set and Ready evacuations, but a Ready remains in place for the Midnight Sun Zone due hazards posing safety risks to firefighters, emergency responders, and the public.
